No equivalent federal programme took over for homeowners generally. Checked on 29 August 2026 against Natural Resources Canada: what remains federally is fiscal, and direct energy-retrofit support is now carried by the provinces and energy utilities — in Ontario by the Home Renovation Savings programme, in British Columbia by CleanBC.

Conditions: Owner-occupiers only — Canadian citizens, permanent residents or authorised non-permanent residents. Required a pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation dated 1 April 2020 or later, with work not yet started at application.

Oil to Heat Pump Affordability program

Applications filed before 31 July 2026 continue to be processed; documents and work must be complete by 31 January 2027. No federal replacement identified as of 29 August 2026: the relay is provincial, and British Columbia keeps a specific scale for leaving oil heating.

Conditions: The home must be connected to an integrated electricity grid. Households in Nunavut and remote areas, including in Quebec, are excluded.
2026 changes: 31 July 2026 was the last day to apply. Applications received before then continue to be processed; documents must be uploaded and work completed by 31 January 2027.
